Christmas gift revenge (a new brotherly event)

Jason's brother Wes decided to send a little gift to Arkansas for Jason to have on Christmas day, his very own Christmas shirt. Words can't describe how cute Jason looks in his new holiday sweater, but pictures can show it! So look out Wes because Jason has 364 days to think about his revenge and it is going to be sweet!!!!

To Arkansas & back (Christmas 07)

We are back from Arkansas and the plane trip was not that delightful. Try entertaining a 5 month old with the attention span of 10 minutes and toss the tired factor into that and oh boy fun for everyone! Jens did really great on the plane ride there and back, but Jason and I really had to work at entertaining him.

But the trip was worth it to spend time with Robyn's family. Her aunts and uncles came into town. Her grandmother (Nani) was in good spirits and everyone was delighted to get time with the baby! Here are some photos of the fun. We stopped by to see Robyn's friends from college Nick & Sara and Nick showed off his new Xbox 360 and Jason excited to share with Jens how to play xbox.

In the photos you can see my Aunt Bridget (on the left with Jens) & Aunt Mary is the one on the right. My grandmother is having a great time with the Christmas bows too, she doesn't know I caught this photo! Wait until she sees her scrap book.

Who doesn't love Christmas Pants!

Everyone loves a baby in homemade outfits, so I present exhibit A - Robyn makes Christmas pants for Jens. I am sure this will be used against me later in his life, but for now let the adorable baby outfits comense. I offered to make Jason a matching pair of flannel Christmas pants and he told me no. I mean come on how could you not want a pair of these!

I think for family photos at Christmas I should make all my aunts and uncles wear these! Uncle Jim you would look great in a matching pair with your siblings!

Look at me exersaucer

In the world of Jens the demands for attention are high and heck why not? If I was a little human trying to figure out the world I would want to be held and entertained all the time too! As most infants, he likes constant activity from one event to another.

This month we have added the exersaucer a plastic contraption designed to trap baby and all him to reach and play with many things at once. The seat that holds baby rotates 360 degrees all while teetering on a saucer to help with leg development. And of course while doing this Jens presents a chance for a smile for the camera. He will now smile every time the camera is in his face. I am sure my mother would give me many stories of my own childhood to demonstrate that this on command smile skill comes from the Jensen side of the family!

Jens also loves to be held too (imagine that) and to solve mommy's daily problem of having to get things done we have become a baby backpack family. This little backpack is called an Ergo and it can be worn on the front or the back of the adult and fits up to 40 pounds of kid, try that for off season training. But I have lightweight training this year since Jens is only 15 1/2 pounds.

Learning to Smile on Command

Oh What a good day today! Jens has started condensing his naps. For the last several days he has been taking three naps a day and starting to get them longer. This is instead of napping for 45 minutes ever two hours of the day. He had a nap for an hour and fifty minutes (yippee, mommy got work done). After Jens woke up from his nap I decided to take him for his first jog in the BOB stroller. For anyone who has not seen a BOB stroller this is the SUV of strollers! We are talking big wheels, shocks, sun roof, and even reclines if you kid wants to nap. The most awesome stroller in the world (thanks Grandpa George & Grandma Cai).

We had been using the stroller with his car seat attached to it, but today I got daring and just strapped Jens into the seat with his blue reindeer jacket/snowsuit on and we did a jog. It was great!

After getting him bundled up and putting Jens in the stroller, I thought this is just too cute to not get a picture, so I got the camera and said "Jens can you smile?" and he did! I asked him 5 times and he smiled on cue - I was so excited. Finally feedback from this little person that I have been putting so much time into; what a great moment!

Roll Over

Ahh the glory of video, you can hear mommy act like a fool and Jens master the art of rolling over. Right before I took this video he rolled over 3 times in a row! he only rolls once on the video, but I think it is fun to see the look in his face as he tries to roll on command.

1st visit to Santa

Well last Friday on the 7th Jens had his first visit to Santa and Grandma Betty was visiting for the occasion. Mommy tried her best to plan for a happy visit to Santa so we headed out in the car for a "driving nap" to ensure good spirits on our arrival at the North Pole (aka Macy's downtown). By the grace of God we got a smile out of the kid!

By Any Means Necessary

So if you know Robyn, she is all into solving a problem..so when Jens was cranky what did I do read the books about sleep and cranky and the main message I got for children less than 4 months help the child calm and sooth "by any means necessary" so what did Jason and I think of to help Jens one evening before bed when he was getting cranky...humm weather was to cold to go outside, so let's walk him on the treadmill. Yes I have actually gotten him to fall asleep in a baby carrier walking on the treadmill.

Portland Grunge

11/28/07
Living in Portland it is hard to keep up with all the cool people. Here Jens has demonstrated his very hip dressing style. Baby leggings with skulls and a "Eat at Mom's" onsie complements of his Aunt Beth. Oh and of course Nike shoes from "Aunt Janice"

I am working on getting up old photos of Jens so everyone can see his progress. Can you believe that "old" photos, he's only 20 weeks old at this point and I am already saying old. So first let's cover the "bath time" photos from done at 15 weeks, I am sure this will embarrass him at some point in his life.
